The host families and benefactor Hermann Gruenwald are with the Life in a Jar cast in Montreal, Canada. The location is the popular breakfast spot, the St. Viateur Bagel Bakery.
Both Renata and Elzbieta were saved as children, Elzbieta by Irena and the Underground Zegota. Renata survived in the streets of Warsaw until rescued and Bieta was taken out of the Warsaw Ghetto in a carpenter’s box at five months of age. Bieta had a silver spoon with her first name and birthdate put in the carpenter’s box by her parents. Both ladies are active in the care for Irena and with the ‘Life in a Jar’ Project. Both have visited Kansas and participated in ‘Life in a Jar’ presentations. Renata lives in Montreal and Bieta in Warsaw.

Rene Licthman and family- Rene is the Vice-President of the World Federation of Jewish Child Survivors of the Holocaust and a wonderful friend of the project.
November 10, 2007 – Elizabeth, student founder of Life in a Jar/the Irena Sendler Project and husband, Graham Hutton, on their wedding day.
The 2009 United States recipient of the Irena Sendler Award is Sarah Powley. She is an English teacher in McCutcheon High School in Indiana.
Members of Life in a Jar were approached in Amsterdam by a group from Panama going to Poland for the March of the Living. They had previously heard Irena’s courageous story and were overjoyed to see us and hear more about this beautiful woman!

Megan (Stewart) Felt and Travis Stewart, her brother, have dedicated their teen-age lives to the telling of Irena’s story. The clarity of the picture is weak, their passion is not.

A friend of the project for many years has been Renata Zajdman. She was rescued as a child from the Warsaw Ghetto and is a good friend of Irena. Renata shared in our Toronto presentations.
Pitor Zettinger was saved from the Warsaw Ghetto by Irena, he now lives in Sweden.
Kinga Krzeminska, who translated for Irena, speaks to an audience at the Chicago Public Library about Irena Sendler. This forum took place in November of 2008.

The Life in a Jar group in Zakopane, Poland to present the play to 200 child survivors. We are with Rabbi Schudrich, the Rabbi of Poland, Polish student helper, Zuzia, and coordinator-child survivor and good friend, Elzbieta Ficowska.
Stephanie Bishop, Milken National Educator from Virginia, has been a big help with the Life in a Jar play. She also participated in the taping of a DVD of the play.

Here is a current photograph of one of the students who started the project. Sabrina has been a kindergarten teacher in Kansas. She and her husband Daniel have a new baby. She continues to be heavily involved with the project.
